God rules.
Yes, you are right. Reason and intelligence ARE NOT the most effective instruments that humankind posses.

God is in control and the most effective instrument we posses is our obedience to God.

When we obey God, we love God and we love our neighbors in the same way we love ourselves.

When we use human reason and intelligence we get survival of the fittest. We get people who think they are better, smarter or more powerful than other people, taking advantage of others. (slave labor, stealing, oppressing, and murdering). We get World War II, sex slaves in America (yes, there is still slavery in America), suicide bombers, and drug lords.

Reliance on ourselves results in death. Obedience to God results in love, peace and compassion for others. God gives you the free will to make your own decisions, it's your choice.
