      Saul (aka Paul) persecutes and works to destroy Christianity. Saul was a Jewish Pharisee.
He was an extremely zealous Jew, with a bright future in Judaism. As he watched the
growth of Christianity, he saw it as a threat to Judaism. that must be eliminated.

Acts 9:1-9
Saul travels to Damascus to search for Christians and take them to Jerusalem as prisoners. On the road to Damascus Jesus appears to Saul and calls Saul to apostleship. Saul is blinded and led by his friends into Damascus. Saul, through Ananias laying on of his hands, receives his sight and is filled with the Holy Spirit. Saul goes to the synagogues in Damascus and proclaims boldly that Jesus is the Son of God.
      Saul spends three years
in Damascus and in the wilderness of Arabia.

Saul visits the Apostles in Jerusalem for 15 days. He then goes to his home town, Tarsus.

Saul spends approximately the next 10 years in Tarsus.

    46   Saul goes to Antioch where, working with Barnabas, they taught a "great many people".
    A famine is affecting Jerusalem. Saul and Barnabas bring famine relief from Antioch.
    47   Paul's first missionary journey. He visits Cyprus, Pisidian Antioch, Iconium, Lystra and Derbe.

      Paul returns to Antioch and writes his first letter, the letter to the Galatians.
Jews expelled from Rome   49   Jerusalem Council.
      Paul's second missionary journey begins.

He revisits Galatia. Then goes to the cities of Philippi, Thessalonica, Berea, Athens and Corinth.


Writes his second and third letters, 1st and 2nd Thessalonians.

Returns to Antioch. (After a quick visit to Jerusalem).

      Paul's third missionary journey begins. He revisits Galatia. Then goes to Ephesus, Philippi, Thessalonica, Bera, Athens, Corinth, Troas, Lietus and Tyre.

    57 Paul writes Romans. Third missionary journey ends in Jerusalem. Paul is arrested.
      Paul is held in prison in Caesarea.

      Paul stands trial before Felix, Festus and Agrippa. He appeals his case to Caesar.
    60 He is sent to Rome. Shipwrecked on Malta he is bitten by a viper with no ill effects.
      Paul arrives in Rome and is held under house arrest.  
Writes the letters to Philemon, Colossians, Ephesians and Philippians.

      Released from prison in Rome. Unrecorded journey - possibly to Spain.
    63 Writes 1st Timothy and Titus.
