This is a request to you please answer these questions.

Is it that only a Christians will go to heaven, why not a Muslim who does his/her work honestly in this world and never does somthing harming to others, and who has a firm faith in his/her religion?

I have a friend who is a Muslim. I realy dont find something bad in her. She explained me her religion [Islam] and I found it something which is really of great sense. In it is also mentioned about Christianity, about Jews and also many things. The concept of god is that there is only one god. And about Jesus. He was the son of Mary and was one of the messengers of the god. About the book Bible, it was send down by god to the messenger so that the people may follow. How is it possible that in Quran it is mentioned about all these religions. Dosen't this show that Islam is a book of god? Why is that we don't believe in this?

Sorry to ask all this, but I had a doubt. I would be realy thankful if you would answer positively and also a bit early.

Our Answer:

Hello _______:

I'm happy to answer your questions. Thank you for writing.

Yes, the Quran does mention the Jews, Christianity, Jesus and the Bible. The Quran was written in the 7th century, and both there were both Christians and Jews in the area where Mohammed lived.

Because the Quran talks about Christians, Jews and Jesus does not make the Quran a book from God--there are many books that mention these same subjects and which we do not accept as books from God.

While both Christianity and Islam believe in one God, Islam is very different from Christianity. For example, in Islam a person goes to heaven because their good deeds outweigh their sins. In Islam no one knows whether they will be going to paradise or hell. Mohammed's daughter asked her father what her fate would be on the day of judgment. Mohammed answered:

"Say: I am no bringer of newfangled doctrine among the apostles, nor do I know what will be done with me or you. I follow but that which is revealed to me by inspiration; I am but a warner open and clear." - The Quran, Sura 46:9

Not even Mohammed knew whether he was headed to paradise or hell.

In Christianity we know the answer, because:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." -- John 3:16

In Islam those whose good deeds outweigh their sins will go to paradise. This is the opposite of Christianity--those who believe in Jesus Christ who will have eternal life in heaven. The Bible says:

"Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it." - Ephesians 2:9

That your Muslim friend is a good person, does not mean she has the right to go to heaven. No one is good enough. (Is there anyone who has followed even just the 10 Commandments perfectly? No.) We are all sinners.

"For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard." - Romans 3:23

God is perfect and holy. Sin can not exist in God's presence. This means anyone who has sinned can not enter heaven. But God loves us and wants us all to be with Him in heaven? How does He solve this problem?

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." -- John 3:16

So it is those who believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior who join God in heaven.

The Quran mentions the Jews, Christians, the Torah, the Bible etc. because these people existed when Mohammed spoke the Quran. Mohammed, although illiterate (he could not read nor write), had heard about them (many Jews lived in the area, His wife was originally Catholic, etc.) and Mohammed incorporated many Jewish and Christian teachings in the Quran. Because they are mentioned and quoted (usually incorrectly) in the Quran, that does not make the Quran true. There are many good and bad books that quote the Torah and Bible--all of them written by man.

Islam's Allah is not God. They may both be called god, but when we look at who they are--as described in the Bible and the Quran--they are opposite in character.

God loves us (all of us including Muslims), tells us a lot about Himself (in the Bible); is an active part of our daily lives; and wants us to join Him in heaven. God wants to be in a relationship with us. God never changes, and wants us to have the peace and security of knowing for sure that we'll join God in heaven.

Allah is not involved in Muslin's lives or even in the world. He is aloof and uninvolved with people and the world. Allah tells us little about himself in the Quran. Allah changes his mind frequently and no Muslim (not even Mohammed) knows whether or not they are going to heaven or hell.

Allah and God are not the same. Islam and Christianity are not the same. The Quran is not a book of God.

Thank you again for taking the time to write,

Yours in Christ,
Steve
